Why is there a Proposition 65 warning on my packing slip?Updated 2 months ago

The state of California requires the Proposition 65 warning be listed on all products containing certain chemicals with levels above a predetermined threshold. All dietary supplements are required to carry this warning, even if they are made with 100% natural ingredients (as Durable products are). The reason for this is because some of the chemicals that are on the Prop 65 list are prevalent in soil and water and can accumulate in plants used in the production of dietary supplements. Keep in mind that the level of exposure to these substances is minimal and average daily intake is well below the tolerable limits determined by the EPA and FDA. For reference, many foods naturally contain amounts of Prop 65 chemicals well above their set threshold, but foods are not required to list the Prop 65 warning.

It should be noted that California product label warning requirements are not usually the same as federal safety requirements. This causes a mismatch between warnings on products sold in California and what is required elsewhere in the U.S.A. This can explain why sometimes you may see a California Prop 65 warning on a product sold in California but no warning on the same product sold elsewhere.
