Use an existing domain name on a Durable site

Custom domain names are the number one recommended way to start growing your online brand. The process of linking a domain name can be annoying. 

Our generic instructions are on this page, and we've created specific instructions for Domain name providers. Every DNS provider is supported, but most have some quirks.

DNS provider specific instructions:


Generic instructions are below.


1. Add a custom domain

To add your custom domain to your Durable site, open the website settings and click "add external domain"

Enter the domain name you have registered with a domain name registrar like GoDaddy. 


2. Update the DNS

  • Click the Link Domain button

  • Click Continue
  • Type the domain name from your external provider
  • Wait for verificaton
  • Click to Authorize directly with provider
  • Or manually add records in domain providers portal. Click the down arrow to expand

    Note: The record information will can change or be different


Verify the domain is pointing to Durable 

Verify your DNS settings are correct by checking your status in the DNS settings. 

DNS changes can take a few minutes to a few hours to propagate. Please ensure your records are set correctly with your DNS provider, and come back later to check if it is verified on your Durable dashboard.
